Project Title: Eco-Connect
About the Project
Eco-Connect is a mobile app designed to increase awareness and facilitate action on environmental issues in local communities.
Inspiration
My passion for environmental conservation and my desire to empower local communities inspired me to create Eco-Connect.
What I Learned
Through this project, I learned how to use React Native for app development, improved my understanding of APIs for backend integration, and honed my skills in user interface design.
How I Built It
- Planning: Defined the app’s objectives and planned the user journey.
- Development:
- Used React Native for cross-platform mobile development.
- Integrated Google Maps API to provide location-based services.
- Developed a clean, intuitive UI to ensure user-friendliness.
- Testing: Conducted user testing to gather feedback and refined the app accordingly.
Challenges I Faced
One major challenge was integrating real-time data feeds into the app. I overcame this by learning more about asynchronous programming and utilizing the Fetch API for efficient data retrieval.
Conclusion
Eco-Connect has already helped over 1,000 users connect with environmental projects in their area. I plan to expand the app's features and possibly scale it to cover more regions.
