Inspiration

Some of us are in the early stages of dating. Others are in long-term relationships. But all of us have hit the same wall: coming up with new, fun, and meaningful date ideas is hard. Between the pressure to impress and the desire to keep things fresh, we realized there’s a need for something smarter — more personal, more local, and less generic than a Google search.

That’s where Maime started: as an idea to help people fall in love with their partners and their cities again.

What it does

The app is developed to relieve the stress for the user who wants to come up with the perfect date, through a series of steps we've been able to generate infinite suggestions that will result in an amazing time together.

How we built it

We were inspired by how fast Bolt let us get from idea to real, working app. As three developers, we weren’t expecting to move this quickly — but Bolt made the experience seamless. Even though we kept things relatively lean, the tools helped spark ideas we hadn’t originally considered. The responsive design, clean code generation, and overall flow were honestly impressive.

  • Tech Stack: Bolt AI + React + Netlify
  • Frontend/UI: Generated through Bolt’s UI tools with minor tweaks
  • AI Logic: Bolt and OpenAI for conversational recommendations + user context
  • Deployment: We deployed effortlessly on Netlify, which took minutes

Challenges we ran into

  • Validating the concept: We weren’t sure if people would get the idea. But after running some quick test cases with friends and users, the response was overwhelmingly positive.
  • Balancing AI and local suggestions: Ensuring the date ideas felt personal and realistic — not overly AI-generated — took some prompt refinement and UX tuning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are overall proud of how fast we were able to go from idea to product, we started as three talented people with an unique image of what we wanted to build and to be able to come together to a joint image even though we sit in different part of Europe is something we take pride in. It's important to us that we have managed to develop an inclusive app made for everyone while supporting local businesses all over the world.

What we learned

  • User testing early pays off. A few honest conversations helped shape our final UX.
  • Bolt is a rapid prototyping dream. We were impressed by how fast and well-designed the output was.
  • Simple ideas can resonate deeply. The feedback proved that many people feel this “date idea burnout” — and Maime really connected with them.

What's next for Maime

In the future we would like to add a rating system, save the date suggestions in a database to cut down the costs from OpenAI and have better control of the suggestions. Further we would like to monetize the application and find partners and collaborate with different dating apps.
