Organizations like Amazon serve thousands with diverse, confidential dietary needs, and 60% of global food waste comes from commercial operations and homes, amounting to 79 kg per person annually (UN Food Waste Index 2024, BioCycle, Harvard GHELI). Ukrana, developed at this hackathon, is a privacy-first platform for both organizations and individuals, designed to securely match meals to personal requirements, eliminate data leaks, and reduce allergen risk and food waste by measurable margins.

For organizations, Ukrana streamlines safety by collecting dietary restrictions from employees through a secure user dashboard and transmitting only relevant, encrypted data to kitchen staff ensuring, for example, that no employee with a peanut allergy ever receives a meal containing peanuts. For home use, individuals input their own dietary restrictions; Ukrana flags risks instantly if someone tries to add or buy an item that they are intolerant to, making everyday meal planning safer and smarter.

Currently, updates to inventory or restrictions rely on manual entry with existing datasets, ensuring accuracy and privacy. Eventually, Ukrana will introduce a photo scan feature so users and staff can simply scan food items or inventory and have it automatically updated in the dashboard, making food management effortless.

With real-time automated menu planning and strict role-based access controls, Ukrana can achieve up to 50% fewer allergen incidents and a 23% reduction in food waste compared to legacy solutions (UN 2024 Index, Amazon AI retail data). Privacy is at the core: only authorized kitchen teams see sensitive data, while others have access only to anonymized, aggregate insights.

Through its hackathon prototype, Ukrana proves that privacy and automation must go hand-in-hand to deliver safety, trust, and measurable impact in food tech. In the future, Ukrana will deepen its analytics, enhance compliance automation, and empower users to securely and flexibly update dietary and inventory data setting the standard for secure, personalized meal management at any scale.
