Ukon is an open-source web-based experimental project developed by GitHub creator blackmatriXblack, following the developer’s earlier web-operating-system works including CmdWebOS and WikiOS, and predominantly built with core front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript to run fully within mainstream web browsers without any local software installation or extra backend server setup. Continuing the creator’s consistent development direction of simulating lightweight system functions on the browser sandbox, Ukon inherits the virtual file system and interactive runtime logic from its predecessor projects while focusing on a streamlined, compact functional positioning; it integrates simplified command interaction modules and customized lightweight service logic, enabling end users to test simulated system operations, manage in-browser virtual files and validate frontend-driven OS implementation theories directly on web pages. Published as an open repository on GitHub under an open-source license, Ukon allows all interested developers and programming learners to freely clone source codes, modify internal functional modules and add personalized extensions, serving as a concise hands-on technical demo for learning browser sandbox development, virtual storage design and minimalist web system construction.
