Inspiration:
We were inspired by the lack of visually engaging yet performant business software. Most enterprise tools are functional but dull, while 3D interfaces are often heavy and slow. We wanted to bridge that gap — bringing immersive 3D into professional environments without sacrificing speed or usability.
What it does
NEXA is a 3D-enhanced enterprise interface that allows businesses to visualize data, navigate dashboards, and interact with tools in an immersive 3D environment. It loads quickly, works smoothly on most devices, and offers customizable modules for different industries — from real estate virtual tours to 3D data analytics.
How we built it
Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Three.js for 3D rendering Optimizations: Used lightweight models, lazy loading, and GLTF compression UI/UX: Designed in Figma, developed with a mobile-first approach Performance: Implemented progressive enhancement to ensure usability even without WebGL
Challenges we ran into
Balancing visual quality with fast load times Making 3D controls intuitive for first-time users Ensuring cross-browser and cross-device compatibility Optimizing 3D assets without losing detail
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created a fully interactive 3D interface that loads in under 3 seconds Designed an intuitive control system that requires no prior 3D experience Built a scalable framework that can adapt to different business use cases Achieved a high Lighthouse performance score (>90) despite 3D content
What we learned
How to optimize 3D models for the web The importance of fallbacks for non-WebGL users How to design UI that guides users in a 3D space without overwhelm Team collaboration in a remote hackathon setting
What's next for UI/UX Design at NEXA
Adding AR/VR compatibility for hands-free business visualization Integrating AI to suggest optimal 3D layouts based on user behavior Developing industry-specific templates (healthcare, education, retail) Launching a drag-and-drop builder so businesses can create their own 3D interfaces without coding
