Inspiration
Inspired by experiencing horrible dates.
What it does
When you click "Start" it will send you a text message with an urgent message. You can even reply and the bot will always respond back. This might help you in an awkward or even dangerous date situation that you want to get out of.
How we built it
We originally built this using the Ionic framework because it had cross-platform support and allowed us to build a native app in React, javascript, and HTML, and CSS. After a full day of struggling, we switched to implementing the project as a responsive web application using React for the front-end and Ruby on Rails for the back-end after some issues finding documentation on how to connect the front-end to the back end. We integrated with Twillio and used that to initiate the original text message and also respond to the user.
Challenges we ran into
Everything. No one on the team knew how to implement the project or the technologies we decided to use. The learning curve was the biggest challenge for us.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Trying to use technologies we have never worked with before.
- When we were stuck on an issue for too long, we thought of another way of solving the problem and other technologies to work with.

What's next for UGood?
Turning it into a native mobile app and adding it to the app store/play store.
