UGAmi

Inspiration

Freshman students at large college campuses tend to feel overwhelmed when making friends. This app helps so that people with similar interests have a way to connect directly.

What it does

It utilizes a swipe-based interface to present users with other students on campus. When the user agrees with the profile, they will chat with the other person. Otherwise, they would swipe anywhere.

How we built it

We used Firebase and Swift. The main IDE we used was XCode.

Challenges we ran into

Connecting NoSQL databases, implementing a dynamic swipe-based user interface, and learning curves with Swift and XCode, were a few prominent setbacks when developing this app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

With most of the team being new to mobile app development using Swift and XCode, it is an accomplishment that a large portion of the app was completed in a matter of hours on Saturday.
