Inspiration

UFinance was inspired by our experiences growing up in households where financial transparency and budgeting were often missing. Watching our parents struggle with tight finances due to a lack of financial education motivated us to create a platform that makes learning about personal finance accessible. We believe financial literacy is key to creating stability and opportunity, no matter your background.

What it does

UFinance is a learning tool designed to help people understand key financial concepts, from investing and retirement planning to credit management and budgeting. Our goal is to simplify these topics and provide a reassuring space for users to explore finance, whether they're just getting started or looking to improve their knowledge utilizing AI. With plans to integrate Vanguard’s platform, we aim to make it easy for users to open accounts and begin their financial journey.

How we built it

We started with a basic web template, focusing on user-friendly design and straightforward content. Using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, we laid the foundation for a clean, intuitive interface. The project will also feature AI-driven tools to guide users in understanding financial concepts and making better decisions. As well as a quiz to determine financial literacy and where to get started in terms of learning.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we faced was ensuring that financial topics are both comprehensive and easy to understand, especially for those who may not have much prior knowledge. But the main challenege would be time constraints and the lack of experience in web development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of building a foundation for a tool that can make a real difference in people's lives. We've created a simple, clean interface that demystifies finance and empowers users to take control of their financial future. Additionally, we successfully overcame design and integration challenges that pushed us to improve our skills.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned the importance of empathy in design—understanding the needs of people who might feel overwhelmed by financial concepts. We also gained deeper knowledge about integrating APIs, and how to balance functionality with user experience.

What's next for UFinance

Next, we plan to fully integrate with Vanguard’s platform to make it even easier for users to open accounts and start their financial journey. Completing the webpages with full informative topics and information, having an AI chatbot as a part of the experience. We'll continue expanding the educational content, adding interactive tools and resources to guide users. We also aim to create a mobile-friendly version, so learning about finance is as accessible as possible, no matter where you are.
