Inspiration : Many times where students want to travel out of town for onsite interviews or to meet their friends and relatives, they have to post on Facebook all the time to see if anyone is going on the same day. This is a time consuming process and most of the time people miss the rides because of negligence.

What it does: This is a proto type app which is designed specifically for those students who will be travelling in and out of Gainesville. It is not limited to UF students, residents of Gainesville can also make use of this app.

How I built it: I developed this app in android studios. I had to research a lot to learn firebase Realtime database.

Challenges I ran into: There were 2 main challenges I faced while developing this app. First, I was not aware of Firebase Database. So it took some time to understand it thoroughly and write code to integrate it with my app. Second and one of the toughest challenges I have ever faces was the concurrency problem. Firebase threads run concurrently to fetch data and I wanted to create a second activity once I get the data but synchronization was not there. Finally I change the design and I fetch the data in the second activity which resolved the problem.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of: I was able to complete the project within time and it is a working project.

What I learned: I learnt Andriod programming. Got good handson on Java firebase database. Have leant to compete the task within time.

What's next for UF Ride Board: I have ideas to make it to next level. I am not good at UI/UX design so I am planning to take help from my friend to improve it and even I have plans to learn those technologies.
