Inspiration

We were inspired by other food related apps and thought it would be helpful for college students always on the go.

What it does

When a user types in a list of ingredients, Ueat searches the Spoonacular database and displays a list of recipes than include as many of the ingredients as possible.

How we built it

We built it using React, CSS, and the Spoonacular API.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a few issues with the pay walls that Spoonacular had in place as well as a few things while learning parts of React, such as sharing variable between files.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working with the API was one of the most complicated parts of the project, and so figuring out how to send shared variables between files as well as fixing bugs related to multiple calls to the API was pretty rewarding.

What we learned

We learned how to use React as well as using an established database and how to incorporate it into our projects. Most of us don't have experience with developing software, so this experience provided valuable insight into a version of the process.

What's next for Ueat

If we were to add to the project, we'd work on adding user-selected filters for dietary restrictions as well as personal preference that would further narrow down the recipes displayed.
