Inspiration
As students in university, we know how hard it can be to feel mentally well while life never ceases to throw challenges at you-- we know that it can be hard to even complete everyday tasks and take care of ourselves! Our game stems from our own experiences, and we hope it encourages people to keep trying their best.
What it does
Udder Anxiety Attack is a first person game where you play as Patty, who struggling with her mental health and the pressures of daily life. Players will complete fast-paced mini-games to help Patty complete her to-do list of things to take care of herself and her mental health, and eventually face her fears!
How we built it
The game was built on HTML running on JavaScript, all assets were designed and rendered in Medibang Paint Pro.
Challenges we ran into
The time constraint set an immediate challenge, and the hurdles associated with building a game without a game engine. We had to build up everything from the ground up, which proved to be a huge time sink and required a lot of self learning.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a series of multiple mini games into our project, and they are all unique. Almost all the assets of the game, including the original characters and sprites, were created by us in Medibang Paint Pro.
What we learned
We learned how to navigate and build a game using Low Level Canvas APIs, and how to create a video game without using an engine. Also gained experience and strengthened skills in creating assets and sprites for a game (learned how to do pixel art)!
What's next for Udder Anxiety Attack
We want to improve the game and develop the storyline, create all remaining assets and include more characters, update the existing pattern mini-game pace, and include sprite animations to make the game experience more interactive and engaging.
