Inspiration

Living alone in Munich can be challenging, especially when you want to enjoy your favourite activities or hobbies but don’t have anyone to share the experience with. That’s where U,Me,Munich comes in—a unique app designed to connect people from diverse backgrounds, helping them create new memories while enjoying activities they love.

What it does

Once registered, you can select the activity you’re interested in—options can be updated anytime to match your mood. The app offers a diverse range of activities:

  • Sporty
  • Party
  • Explore Nature
  • Grab a Coffee
  • Cook
  • Watch a Movie
  • Go for a Walk
  • Discuss a Book
  • Garden
  • Chat
  • Go Wild

If you’re unsure what to do, the “Go Wild” option provides a randomly selected activity tailored to your preferences, connecting you with someone who has similar interests. Additionally, a chatbot analyzes your preferences and suggests activities that align with your interests.

How we built it

To streamline development, we divided into two teams: frontend and backend. The frontend team focused on designing the app’s interface and user experience, while the backend team handled user registration, authentication, and chatbot implementation. Once the core features were developed, it was necessary to integrate and connect the frontend with the backend seamlessly.

Challenges we ran into

Coordination between teams was crucial to ensure all tasks were aligned and no work was duplicated. We also encountered technical challenges when integrating the frontend and backend, particularly in aligning app features with project deadlines.

The frontend team faced difficulties optimizing the user experience to make the app intuitive for all age groups. Additionally, the backend team initially struggled with developing the chatbot and user registration and authentification but overcame these challenges as the project progressed.
