U++ is a new application designed to help android users improve their quality of life by trying new things. As college students, we often spend so much time worrying about school and our classes that we often do not take the time to enrich and improve our own lives. U++ solves this problem by providing users with various challenges to be completed at the user’s own pace. Most of the challenge completion is manually logged by the user, or through metrics coming from devices such as OpenXC and Jawbone UP. With each challenge accomplished, the user gains “Experience Points” which will accumulate until they have enough to “level-up” their avatar. Challenges include: reading a new book, baking something from scratch, drinking more water, and driving more safely with data from Ford’s OpenXC platform. The design of the app is purposefully simplistic and reminiscent of a fun “to-do” list. As developers, we hope to soon create an iOS version of the app and integrate data from external fitness devices such as Jawbone UP and Fitbit. Finally, we look to create more challenges and more levels for the user to reach, and integrate with Facebook so that users can compete with and challenge their friends, as well as compare levels and experience points.
