How to use the Typenomore Plugin

Inspiration

We are a team of product managers and developers who are tired of spending so much time to create documentation for their product designs. We often do not even make documentation for our work because of tight deadlines or that we just lack the manpower to do it. This would often cause confusion with developers who need details for the product design and it makes it difficult for revisions to be made in the future. This is why we wanted to make a solution that can help create the documentations needed without taking time away from the product team.

What it does

Typenomore is a Figma plugin that allows the user to select any design they've made in Figma and generate documentation for it. The plugin can generate Product Requirement Documents, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and UX Flows. The user can then copy and paste the generated text.

How we built it

We created a Figma plugin that coverts an object that the user selects in Figma into an image. We then use Gemini AI to read images as input. We have set up a prompt in Gemini AI for 4 different types of documentation, which includes Product Requirement Document, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and UX flows. The Gemini AI will then generate the selected documentation and the user is able to read and copy the generated text from the plugin.

Challenges we ran into

We had trouble setting up the prompt for the AI to generate proper documents that would be useful for a product team. But after several iterations we were able to create the right settings for the plugin to generate usable documentation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to finish the project and get the plugin approved by Figma within 2 weeks from the initial idea.

What we learned

We learned that a lot of people working in product are interested in the product, even if the generated documents are not 100% polished, as they are still able to save a lot of time from typing documentaiton.

What's next for Typenomore

We want to expand the type of documentation that the plugin can create, including technical specifications and code that can create the software based on the design.
