Twocycle

Inspiration

We are CODETA VS: a team of 3 web developers based in Germany 🇩🇪. We were inspired to create a solution for electronic waste by connecting local logistics services (bicycle couriers) with local repair shops or recycling facilities, therefore boosting the local economy and creating a second life for devices that would otherwise become junk. As a former bicycle courier who has delivered everything from letters to sofas, Sanja thought using local courier companies would be a cool way to support local business while keeping the service environmentally-friendly. No cars, no problem!

What it does

Twocycle helps users who wish to recycle their old electronics to have an easier experience by connecting them with a carbon neutral courier pickup service that acts as a liaison between the user and a local repair shop or recycling center.

How we built it

We built our mobile app in Ruby on Rails, using HTML, Bootstrap and SASS for styling, and Heroku to host.

Challenges we ran into

Brainstorming was challenging; for instance, selecting an applicable name that represents the bicycle courier aspect as well as the recycling mission. We think Twocycle is a clever name that describes both!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was a really cool way to come back together as professional developers for the first time since attending Le Wagon Berlin's web development bootcamp 1 year ago. We were able to develop this MVP very quickly, and really enjoyed spending the weekend together developing Twocycle 🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏽‍♀️!
