Inspiration
Our inspiration for this project is youtube rewind, where people are given the opportunity to relive the entire year for a few minutes.
What it does
It fetches the trending tweets for each year, finds the corresponding images for each tweet, and merges everything together with a soundtrack by putting together a short movie.
How we built it
We built it using python, ffmpeg, and google-images-download.
Challenges we ran into
Gaining permission to use images, and accessing the premium version of Twitter API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're really proud of our idea and hope to see Twitter implement it someday.
What we learned
We learned time management and collaboration skills. Codechella was a very fast-paced environment that allowed us to optimize our time.
What's next for Twitter Rewind
In the future, we want to make our project more personalized for each user. We also want to incorporate intelligence into the system, perhaps by performing topic modelling in order to get more relevant images.
