Inspiration

Twitch streams run on real-time community interaction, but managing live overlays, chat engagement, and stream automation manually can interrupt a creator's flow. We wanted to build an autonomous agent that seamlessly bridges live Twitch stream events with intelligent automation.

What it does

Twitch Codex Agent acts as an intelligent co-host for Twitch creators. It processes live chat signals and stream events (via the EventSub API), drives dynamic visual overlays, and delivers contextual AI responses to engage viewers in real time without human intervention.

How we built it

  • AI Core: Engineered using OpenAI Codex to generate system logic, handle prompt pipelines, and orchestrate agent behavior.
  • Workflow Architecture: Built on a low-code/no-code framework utilizing Relevance AI for multi-agent workflows.
  • Twitch Integration: Connected to Twitch Chat and EventSub API endpoints for real-time trigger interception and dynamic updates.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring sub-second latency between incoming chat triggers and live overlay renders, while keeping AI responses relevant and safe during fast-moving streams.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Delivering an end-to-end autonomous agent workflow powered by OpenAI Codex.
  • Achieving reliable real-time event routing between Twitch APIs and live stream overlays.

What we learned

Optimizing context windows for live streaming environments requires tight event filtering and efficient prompt design to maintain stream pacing.

What's next for Twitch Codex Agent

Integrating additional custom overlay widgets, expanding EventSub trigger capabilities, and deploying multi-agent moderation models for larger channels.
