Inspiration
The inspiration behind this project lies in our team’s collective past experience and interest in visually intriguing horror video games and in our desire to learn and incorporate new technologies such as virtual reality development.
What it does
This project provides users a visually intriguing and entertaining horror virtual reality video game experience.
How we built it
Our team built this project by utilizing the Unity framework in addition to the Oculus Quest 2 hardware as well as external assets and prefabs that are publicly available.
Challenges we ran into
This project was also difficult because no one had any experience interacting or coding virtual reality and only one member had experience with game development and the framework we used (Unity).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Accomplishments the team is proud of was the ability to create a virtual reality space despite our lack of experience in game development and Unity. Our team also had effective communication and was very adaptable.
What we learned
The team learned how to create a virtual reality space and how to use Unity and functions. We also learned how Oculus Quest 2 and virtual reality software collected input and how to utilize it in our game.
What's next for Frightening Forest
Our plan for Frightening Forest involves incorporating additional control and movement mechanics as well as a consistent progression system with changing environments, and also recreating and redesigning assets and models to fit our intended visual theme.
