Inspiration
About 11 hours to the submission, One of my Friend ask me to assist him to pay someone a visit. There I saw a very gigantic fridge produce by Themercool.
Inside that Fridge was every goods, food, provisions, wines, drinks that keeps life moving. Hmmm I saw one the girls noting
down most of the items in the fridge manually, I said to myself what if I can create a dencentralized Applications
that can store all those data for that particular user so that they can access whatever that is inside the fridge at home
and remotely as a result, Twilio Smart Fridge was born.
Here is link to my blockstack Application starting and learning point. https://github.com/yknl/publik
What It Does.
Due to time factors just, this is what the app does for now:
1.) It allows users to input data of whatever that is the fridge and have it saved in the users BlockStack Gaia Storage.
2.) Each time New Food Item is added or Updated, an SMS alert is sent to the user and her Food Item data automatically
gets updated in the Users Gaia Storage.
3.) Admin can also add Family Members by saving their data in his Blockstack decentralized Gaia Storage
4.)Admin can send SMS, Voice Calls and Multi-Media Message(MMS) to any of the family members on any Food stuffs
updates by
leveraging the family members data already registered and stored in his private secured Blockstack Gaia Storage.
5.) Admin can set up Threshold Notification Alert System so as to get SMS alert when a particular food item is near finishing
and as well as when a particular food stuff is near expiration date. This has along way in reducing waste.
How to use this Applications.
1.) First Register with Blockstack to get your Blockstack Id.
2.) Register with Twilio to get Your Twilio API Credentials,b>(Eg. Account SID, Auth Token, Twilio Mobile Number).
Click on Add Twilio Credentials button from Twilio Settings Page to input those data along with your own Personal Mobile Contact so that it can be saved to
your Bloackstack Gaia Storage. The Application uses these API Credentials stored in the Twilio Users Blockstack Gaia
to make various API call to Twilio SDK backend when sending and recieving SMS, Media MMS and Voice Calls to and from
various Twilio subscribers.
3.)Click on Refresh Twilio Account Balance to fetch your Account Balance from Twilio.
This account balance will also be fetched automatically from Twilio each time the user login into the App.
The essence of this Twilio Account balance API Call is to keep Twilio Users inform about her Account Status within her
Twilio Wallets. You can now move to registering and storing your Clients Data with Blockstack Gaia.
4.) Verify that You can recieve SMS on your Mobile Contact by clicking Verify My Contact button at Twilio Settings Page
5.) Start Adding and Edit Food Items data and gets Updated via SMS.
6.)Start registering your family members Recipients
along with their data like Firstname, Lastname and Mobile Contacts.
All this Data are stored within Twilio Users Blockstack Gaia Decentralized Server.
You can update each of your family
members via MMS, SMS and Voice Calls
How I built It.
This Application was built with Blockstack Authentication, Gaia Storage and Twilio API and Reactjs as a scripting language. I used Gaia to store and manage Twilio Users and API Data. I use Twilio PHP SDK to send and recieve SMS, Media MMS and Voice Call to and from Twilio Subscribers Accounts.
What Next:
1.)Moving the App to a new Domain.
2.)Restructuring the App, the design for more better look and for better Performance.
3.)Unlimited New features like Listing Food Items Near Expiration Date, Monitoring of finished food items,
Automatic generation of Shopping List based on finished food stuff, Calendaring System,SMS Notification reminders.
4.)Many More.
Issues at Hand
I recently try to access the application from this link https://equationdev.com/twiliosmartfridge/ but it seems its not working properly online as it redirects user to another of my app hosted on the same domain. If host the app at subdomain eg https://twiliosmartfridge.equationdev.com/ it throws error Failed to fetch information about the app requesting authentication. Please contact the app maintainer to resolve the issue. Am still trying to figure out what might be the issue
