Inspiration
Over the years, kidnapping, banditry, religious riots and terrorism have been rampant in Nigeria. I have personally known quite a few people who were killed in such violence. A lot of the time, they died because they did not have access to information. For example, one of them died while traveling on a road that had been under attack for hours. Oblivious to the situation, he got on that road and met his end. Another one of them was also kidnapped on a similarly notorious stretch of road. I believe that if they had had access to information prior to their ill fated trips, they would still be alive today. As far as I know, there is no dedicated website in Nigeria for seeing real time emergencies as they develop. Twatch seeks to address this.
What it does
Intended to be a dedicated website for users to report emergencies around where they are, and to view emergencies and attacks.
How we built it
HTML, CSS, some Javascript. Still not fully functional yet.
Challenges we ran into
All absolute beginners. We knew a little about web dev in general, but had never really tried a project independently.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The sheer amount of things we learned!
What we learned
HTML, CSS, the DOM, Bootstrap, how to search for information, etc.
What's next for Twatch
Development continues, especially backend development.
