Inspiration

As students ourselves, we've experienced the frustration of needing a tutor for a particular subject but struggling to find a reliable platform to locate credible tutors. We realized there was a gap in the market where students like us lacked a centralized hub to easily discover trustworthy tutors tailored to our specific needs. This personal struggle inspired us to create TutorTok, a solution that not only addresses this challenge but also revolutionizes the tutoring experience for students and tutors alike.

What it does

TutorTok serves as a comprehensive platform for students to easily discover and connect with qualified tutors, while also providing tutors with a space to showcase their expertise and reach a wider audience. Through TutorTok, users can filter tutors based on their specific needs, read reviews, and book sessions seamlessly.

How we built it

Our development process involved utilizing React to ensure the responsiveness and dynamism of TutorTok's interface. Tailwind CSS played a significant role in styling, enabling us to create a unified and visually appealing design system efficiently. Additionally, ESLint was instrumental in maintaining code quality and consistency throughout the project. These tools collectively facilitated the creation of a robust and polished platform that prioritizes both functionality and aesthetics.

Challenges we ran into

We encountered the need to split the website into two separate pages, each with its own unique features. However, we also had to ensure that certain buttons on one page could affect the entire platform. This presented a challenge as we aimed to maintain coherence and user-friendly navigation throughout the site.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of our proudest achievements is the design of the TutorTok website. We invested significant time and effort into crafting a visually appealing and user-friendly interface that enhances the overall user experience. From intuitive navigation to aesthetically pleasing layouts, we aimed to create a platform that engages and delights users from the moment they land on the site.

Additionally, we take pride in the development of the chat feature within TutorTok. Recognizing the importance of seamless communication between students and tutors, we designed and implemented a robust chat system that facilitates real-time interaction and collaboration. This feature not only enhances the learning experience but also fosters meaningful connections between users, contributing to the sense of community within the TutorTok platform.

What's next for TutorTok

Moving forward, we plan to further enhance the features and capabilities of TutorTok based on user feedback and market trends. We aim to expand our reach, onboard more tutors across diverse subject areas, and continue fostering a supportive community of learners and educators. Additionally, we're exploring opportunities to incorporate advanced technologies such as AI-driven matchmaking and personalized learning recommendations to further enrich the tutoring experience on our platform.
