Inspiration
As Computer Science students, we understand how difficult and overwhelming courses can be, and the struggle of having to teach ourselves outside of class, on top of assignments, extracurricular activities, and work.
What it does
TutorNet is an AI-powered study assistant that is personalized to the student's specific courses and support.
- Answers questions through step-by-step, clear explanations
- Creates practice exams and quizzes
- Comprehends student course content, such as notes or textbooks
How we built it
- FrontEnd: React + Vite, Firebase
- BackEnd: Flask (Python)
- AI Engine: Sentence Transformers (all-MiniLM-L6-V2), Faiss, Gemini API
- Database: Firebase DB, FAISS indexes
Challenges we ran into
- Issues regarding merging updates from GitHub into the main branch
- Unable to finish certain aspects in time
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Being able to implement Rack into our AI backend
What we learned
- Working with FAISS, using Firebase, Google Labs AI, React AI, and using AI tools in general.
What's next for TutorNet
- Adding more support and resources for students to be able to use, such as cheatsheets and roadmaps.
