Inspiration
The main inspiration came from the competition itself. It perfectly matched what I enjoy doing: building, sharing, and helping the community. I wanted to provide a remixable Obby template so creators can start fast and have fun expanding it. Obbies are popular, fun, and addictive on many platforms, so bringing one into Horizon Worlds felt natural.
What it does
This project is a remixable Obby parkour template. It’s mobile-ready, modular, and easy to customize. Creators can clone it, change a few parameters, and instantly build their own unique Obby worlds with endless variations.
How we built it
We started by brainstorming different props and obstacle shapes. Some ideas were even generated with the help of AI to explore variations and keep the design simple. From there, I modeled several reusable modules in Blender (shapes like squares, rectangles, hearts, stars, etc.).
These meshes were then imported into Horizon Worlds, where I built the classic Obby gameplay loop around them. For mobile optimization, I removed heavy shadows, kept meshes lightweight, and streamlined performance so the world runs smoothly in both VR and mobile.
Challenges we ran into
I sometimes struggled with inspiration to diversify obstacles, and Horizon Worlds itself has limitations. With more essential gizmos available (without coding), I believe the project could go three times further. The biggest challenge was staying creative within these constraints.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a modular Obby template that anyone can remix. Optimized it for smooth performance on mobile devices. Created a foundation that others can easily expand into larger Obby universes.
What we learned
Better mastery of the Horizon engine and gizmos. New skills in mesh importing, pivot/attachments, and scripting. The importance of modular design and performance optimization. Insights on how generative AI could one day support world creation.
What's next for TUTORIAL OBBY PARKOUR ( EASY )
I want this project to become the #1 reference Obby template in Horizon Worlds. The next steps include: Modeling and adding more props and obstacle variations. Fixing potential bugs and improving stability. Gathering player feedback to continuously improve the experience. Expanding into themed packs (Adventure, Party, Simulation). Allowing creators to build hundreds of levels from this base. Obbies are cool, fun, and universal, and my goal is to grow this into a dynamic community-driven universe inside Horizon Worlds.
