Hello and welcome to our JAMHACKS6 presentation. I want to start with the inspiration behind this hack so you can appreciate it as much as we do. First, why did we make this website? When we were coming up with our hack we knew that we had to choose something that solved a problem. Since we are all in the same science class a recent “hardship” that we all went through was studying for and then writing our Biology test a few days ago. I personally found that I was putting off studying/procrastinating because trying to study for that long of a unit was daunting.
In order to help us solve the problem of being overwhemled or putting off studying we decided to code a website using our knowledge of HTML, Java script and CSS. We learned so much throughout the process aswell.
I present to you… the TutorBot. “The ultimate studying website!”. On this website you can set a timer for how long you plan to study that day. As you work you keep the tab open and every 10 minutes you will hear a notification sound. When you look back at our website words of encouragment, motivational quotes or a reminder to get water or take a break will be there in a notification box.
Since this is the ultimate studying website we have big plans for what we want to add to it. TO start, we want to connect it to google calanders so that you can plan your studying sessions in advance while seeing what assingments/tests you have coming up. We also want to add notifications for when you go off-task. We will create an additional program and incorporate it into our website that is able to recognize when you go off-task, like looking at websites or games that the program decides is not educational content. In this instance a notification will appear reminding you to stay on task. Two aditional things that we want to add to this website are flashcards to help you study and breathing activities during your break times.
