Inspiration

As part of a developing community, there are many students in our schools that are underprivileged and cannot afford tutors or any type of educational help outside of school hours. As witnesses to that, we are determined to try and get help to every student that needs it through the Tutër app, regardless of their economic inequity. Our app is meant to help students overcome their educational adversities while not having to worry about financial implications, primarily through the help of volunteer tutors that are community service driven.

What it does

Tutër specializes in any student choosing to be a volunteer or a student seeking help when they enter it. They will be directed to choose a subject where they can either seek assistance or be a tutor, and then be placed in a one on one room for 1 hour. After the hour is finished, the student can either choose another subject with another tutor or leave the app. If a student likes a tutor, they can “favorite” them which adds them to a personalized contact list where they can message and ask for more sessions. This way, the student gains the help they need and the tutors gain incentivized community service hours.

How we built it

We created and designed the prototype for our app through Figma.

Challenges we ran into

Finding an ideal platform to build our app was very difficult, especially since many of them required paid subscriptions. After finding our platform (Figma) it was a challenge to learn the ins and outs on how to use it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Linking all the buttons and adding animations to the app was something that took a lot of figuring out, and we are proud of how we were able to persevere through it and design our app from scratch. Seeing it all connect together when we ran the prototype was the cherry on top.

What we learned

Being a part of a monotonic school schedule didn’t give us that many opportunities to demonstrate our creativity via the internet . Working with Figma allowed our creativity in web design to flourish, with all of our members adding key pieces to perfect our app design. We learned to communicate efficiently, and most importantly, respect each other's ideas no matter if we agreed or disagreed with it. Our ability to key off each other was instrumental in designing Tutër.

What's next for Tuter

We hope for Tutër to become an app that is used to educate daily, especially in underprivileged communities. We want schools to encourage the use of Tutër as a gateway to learn and help their community.
