Inspiration
We were inspired to create this project because of people's love for games and how motivated they make them. The idea behind it is that we would make it themed around saving marine wildlife from consuming plastic garbage, which could further inspire them to help out a little.
What it does
The objective of the game is to reach the crumpled plastic water bottle before it reaches the turtle. The water bottle represents plastic trash, and the turtle represents the marine creatures tricked into eating it. As you continue reaching high scores, The game is set in the ocean, and we also have a supporting website to provide additional information and context, as well as telling the player how to help.
How we built it
We coded our game with python and made our website with Wix.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into plenty of challenges while working these past days. There was difficulty in making the trash follow the turtle, and a little bit of trouble on the rewards system as well, not to mention the absolutely exhausting task of debugging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that the background and bottle were hand-drawn, we are proud of the code that lets the game be what it is now, we are proud of the way our team worked together, and last but not least, we are proud of all our hard work in making this.
What we learned
We learned a lot more about Python, and so so much about the ocean and the plastic that gets dumped in it.
What's next for Turtles
We're planning to make this game a lot more accessible to everyone, so you don't have to download a bunch of stuff. We also want to make the game playable on our website as well.
