Inspiration
Esports has gained worldwide popularity, as evidenced by the multitude of tournaments for games like Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Brawl Stars, and others. Many of my friends—myself included—love tournaments for our favorite games, but we love the prizes even more. That got me thinking: what if I created a global tournament platform?
What it does
TurniRUM is a end-to-end tournament management platform. It allows organizers to create tournaments, manage dynamic brackets, and process entry fees securely via PayPal with a clear 10% platform fee on paid events. Players can browse a unified catalog, register based on their roles, and track match progressions in real time.
How we built it
Main tool is Claude code, it built whole website including backend. I used Gemini API key for AI integration, Brevo for automatic email messages, SupaBase for backend (java script), PayPal API for payment system and Netlify for deploy and site host.
Challenges we ran into
I spent a long time thinking about the payment and prize distribution system, as the platform’s primary goals are convenience and reliability. After a few days, I decided to try using the PayPal API—and it worked! A participant pays the entry fee, the payment is processed, a confirmation is sent to the site’s backend, and their participation is then confirmed on the platform. The PayPal API is also very convenient for withdrawing funds.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a functional, fast-loading SPA platform for competitive gaming.
- Successfully integrated automated bracket structures and PayPal test payments.
- Created a clean, accessible design that simplifies the entire event creation process.
- Successfully integrated AI into website ## What we learned PayPal is very cool for payment systems which is very helpful for every online businesses ## What's next for TurniRUM I'm going to run social media to make TurniRUM popular and with investments I will hire an advertising agency and organize major esports tournaments on my platform, featuring large prize pools to attract users. During the first two to three months, I plan to credit funds to user's wallets for signing up and for inviting friends. I also intend to host contests—for example, with requirements such as "logging into the platform for a month in a row."
