We have seen what is happening in our community as a result of COVID. Restaurants had to shut down, small businesses are fighting to survive and people are struggling.
We developed two ideas to help our community through this crisis, specifically Asian restaurants.
Our first idea is to build a new business line around home prep meal kits - so that the restaurants' existing customers can buy a kit to prepare quickly at home, while bonding with their family. This has the potential to also drive new customers to the restaurant over time.
Our second idea is to take the restaurant's food directly to customers via a food truck. This has the potential to reach new customers who have never tried the restaurant before, and convert them to recurring food truck customers or even bring them to the restaurant. It also provides busy families and individuals the opportunity to have high quality, affordable food at their convenience.
We learned how to think about the restaurant business, what customers need, as well as the emerging food trends and how to design a new business model while sticking to the safety and social distancing guidelines.
We are confident that these ideas can help revitalize the community and struggling restaurants and look forward to developing these further.
