The Turn Table Lamp dims or brightens simply by spinning it. The lamp uses two layers of polarized film (what you would find in sunglasses) to filter the light from an energy efficient fluorescent. This type of fluorescent can not be dimmed electrically, so the lamp does it mechanically. The CNC'd plywood body of the lamp spins on a lazy Susan and houses one layer of the polarized film, when it is spun it goes in and out of alignment with the other stationary polarized layer, this changes the amount of light emitting from the lamp.
