Inspiration
Turdle is a digital health app designed to help users track, understand, and improve their digestive health. It logs bowel movements, identifies patterns, and offers personalized gut health insights.
Why this app? Simple: I’ve always struggled with digestion — a real "ish-sue."
I could never remember:
When was the last time I... dropped one? Yesterday? Two days ago? Last week?
So on June 25th, I decided enough was enough. I sat down, did some research, made a plan, and built Turdle.
And hey — it’s 2025. Everything has AI. So why not Turdle?
Now I’ve got a (crappy) log app with an integrated AI assistant.
Turdle reviews your last 7 days of entries and gives you tailored insights and gut health tips.
Built in just four and a half days, I’m proud to say:
Turdle Beta is live!
Sure, there’s still room for improvement:
- The AI assistant can get a bit too chatty
- No monetization (yet)
- Some UI tweaks still needed But I’ve got a solid roadmap and a clear vision for what’s next.
What it does
Turdle lets users log detailed information about their bowel movements. The interface visualizes trends, flags irregularities, and helps users recognize potential concerns.
The AI assistant analyzes entries from the past 7 days and provides insights, tips, and warnings if any red flags are detected — all in a supportive, helpful tone.
How I built it
I built everything using bolt.new with SvelteKit and Supabase.
Challenges I ran into
I had no prior experience with back-end development, functions, SvelteKit, or most of the tools I used. There were lots of trial-and-error moments (and plenty of broken things along the way), but I learned a ton — and had a lot of fun doing it.
Accomplishments I’m proud of
I’m a designer — my comfort zone is HTML, CSS, and a bit of JavaScript. Usually, I handle UX/UI, not full app development. So building this from scratch, end to end, is a huge personal milestone.
What I learned
- Be patient with the AI model — and read everything it says in discussion mode
- Ask questions, even if they seem dumb
* Read documentation (seriously)
What’s next for Turdle
Here’s what’s on the roadmap:
- PWA support
- Monetization
- UI polish
- Improved AI assistant prompts
- More insights, better visuals, and expanded logging options
Ultimately, I want Turdle to become the go-to guide for digestive wellness.
