Inspiration

I wanted to reimagine the familiar train route as a haunting sci-fi vision, something deeply atmospheric, consistent and genuinely cinematic. Tunnin Juna 2088 started from a simple question: what would a quiet train ride feel like in a future where the world outside the window is slowly falling apart?

What it does

Tunnin Juna 2088 is a short AI-generated film that follows a lone passenger traveling toward a collapsing Helsinki, surrounded by eerie, ambiguous “mörkö”-like figures.

How we built it

I created a detailed shot-by-shot storyboard and guided multiple AI video tools to follow it as closely as possible. The final piece was assembled with traditional editing, grading and sound design to keep the film coherent and cinematic. Used tools: Pen and paper, Photoshop, After Effects, ChatGPT/Sora, Midjourney, Kling.

Challenges we ran into

Maintaining character consistency, mood and continuity across many AI-generated shots was the hardest part. AI models tend to drift, so controlling style, framing and pacing required constant iteration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Upon its release, the film went semi-viral on LinkedIn, gathering 20,000+ views, 300+ reactions and significant engagement within the AI film community.

We achieved a cohesive visual narrative using mostly AI-generated footage while preserving a clear directorial vision. The film also captures a uniquely atmospheric interpretation of future Finland.

What we learned

AI filmmaking still depends heavily on strong planning, direction and visual intent but it also enables textures and moods that are difficult to reach through traditional means.

What's next for Tunnin Juna 2088

I plan to expand the world, refine character consistency further, and explore longer narrative structures using hybrid AI–traditional workflows.

Update. Tunnin Juna 2088 Ready for Competition

The final cut of Tunnin Juna 2088 is complete.
What started as a small experiment grew into one of my strongest AI-driven narrative pieces to date.

The film already gained semi-viral traction on LinkedIn (20,000+ views, 300+ reactions) and sparked a lot of interest in the AI film community.

Now it is ready for The Chroma Awards.
