TuneMatch

Inspiration

The inspiration for TuneMatch came from a desire to support independent artists who often struggle to reach a wider audience. I wanted to create a platform where music lovers could easily discover new talent, tailored to their unique tastes, while giving artists a chance to shine without relying on major labels.

What it does

TuneMatch is a personalized music discovery platform that connects users with independent artists. It allows users to explore new music based on their genre preferences, browse artist profiles with external links to their work, and engage with communities centered around the artists they love.

How we built it

I built TuneMatch using React.js and Vite for the front-end, ensuring a smooth and responsive user experience. The platform features a home page with personalized suggestions, genre and artist selection pages, and a simple navigation menu. While the current version is front-end focused, it’s designed to easily integrate back-end functionalities like user authentication and AI-driven recommendations.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was the limited time frame, especially since I worked on the project alone. Balancing the development of multiple pages and ensuring everything functioned correctly within the 48-hour window was intense. However, it pushed me to prioritize the most important features and manage my time effectively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud of being able to deliver a functional MVP under such tight time constraints. The fact that I was able to implement key features like genre and artist selection, as well as a home page with personalized suggestions, is a significant achievement. It’s rewarding to see the vision for TuneMatch start to come to life

What we learned

This project taught me a lot about the importance of prioritization and time management when working under pressure. I also gained deeper insights into using React.js and Vite to build efficient and user-friendly interfaces. Additionally, I learned how to streamline the development process to focus on delivering a working product within a short deadline.

What's next for TuneMatch

The next steps for TuneMatch include integrating back-end functionalities such as user authentication and AI-driven music recommendations. I also plan to enhance the platform by allowing artists to upload content directly and expanding the community features to foster greater interaction between users and artists. Ultimately, the goal is to continue improving TuneMatch and make it a go-to platform for discovering and supporting independent music.
