Inspiration
Music is strongly tied to memory and emotion. Many couples have a specific song that represents the beginning of their relationship. We wanted to transform that shared memory into a tangible, unforgettable proposal experience by synchronizing a ring reveal to a meaningful moment in a love song.
What it does
Tune Of Our Love is a smart proposal box that plays a selected song and opens at a precisely timed moment. The ring is revealed in sync with a specific lyric, beat drop, or chorus.
The system combines audio playback and controlled mechanical motion to create a personalized and cinematic proposal experience.
How we built it
We developed Tune Of Our Love using an arduino and raspberry pi to manage timing and system logic. A speaker module with driver to handle audio playback, while a servo motor controls the opening mechanism of the ring box.
Challenges we ran into
A major challenge was getting the speaker module and driver to work to recognize songs. We also faced mechanical challenges in ensuring the box opened smoothly and quietly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a compact and functional hardware prototype that integrates embedded systems and mechanical design. Most importantly, we translated an emotional concept into a working technical solution.
What we learned
We learned the importance of timing accuracy in embedded systems. We gained experience balancing hardware constraints with user experience. We also learned that thoughtful design and small details significantly impact how technology is perceived.
What's next for Tune Of Our Love
We also plan to integrate synchronized lighting effects and refine the enclosure design for a more polished final product.
