Tune Butcher

Inspiration

We wish we could cut long-winded bass solos or get an extra serving of that sweet sweet chorus, so we did something about it.

What it does

Tune Butcher lets you chop up and change a song to share your interpretation of the track with the world. From a YouTube URL, the user makes some edits on the website and only the cut's metadata gets stored on the server.

How we built it

The backend is written in python, the frontend in javascript/HTML, and we used Johan's MIR API to do some beat/transient detection and chord detection.

Challenges we ran into

CORS headers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Reasonably complex UI. Simple but powerful concept.

What we learned

Installing a reverse proxy for Johan, poorly writing javascript for Milo, and the importance of sleep for Adrian.

What's next for Tune Butcher

Violating the sanctity of all art.
