Inspiration

Travelling may be fun and is a popular thing in the Summer Season, but there are many issues resulting from unprepared travels & vacations by people. As one of our group members is an international student who has experienced set problems when travelling, we decided to make an all-in-one website to allow for safer and more prepared travel.

What it does

It is a travel optimization website which first starts with a submission page for users to add their details about their trip. It leads them into another page which has some general topics about their visiting place. It also has a button to show more, and it is connected to the last page, which is a kind of AIChatBot that can answer specific questions if users would like to dig deep into any topics or ask new topics.

How we built it

The website is powered by Cloudflare AI API which personalizes the advice and content that is shown to the user based on their travel requirements. The website uses html/css/js to implement the creative and user-friendly front-end design, while CloudFlare API & js were used to connect the complicated back-end.

Challenges we ran into

Initially choosing the idea since all group members came up with creative concepts. Also, integrating the AI, which was first done with OpenAI API, and it did not work so we switched to CloudFlare AI. Trying to connect the back-end with the AI-integrated code with a visual front-end has a few issues but we solved those quickly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to integrate a new AI technology that caused a lot of errors and areas to debug. We were able to succeed in using the AI when there were not many resources for fixing errors online. We never gave up and we power-coded all night to complete a wonderful project.

What's next for TuCanTravel

For the next step, TuCanTravel could implement AI voice functionalities, allowing users to provide information through voice and hear Teddy the Toucan reply using his voice. As well, as creating it as a mobile app so it can be accessible easily by users.

Additionally, we would allow for more customizable options in the way that Teddy presents the information to users. For instance, users could request for a more amical, or comical delivery of information or for Teddy to use emojis in his speech :)
