Inspiration
I'm working on a project to make a pedal powered mechanical walker for Burning Man. Check out http://dogfeatherdesign.com/engineering-projects/mechanisms-mechanical-walker/ This is a personal portfolio project, not created in a Hackathon.
What it does
Creates perfect paper templates so you can cut tubing materials very accurately. Joins complex joints, angles and applications. Think custom bicycle frame builders, custom airplane makers, Automotive enthusiasts (roll cages? custom exhaust headers? Off road protective parts?) Motorcycle customizers, Metal artists, general fab guys.
How I built it
Careful use of JavaScript, html5 canvas and application of descriptive geometry.
Challenges I ran into..
The exhaust collector design really hurt my brain.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of:
Pretty awesome piece of software, check it out at the link below. Runs in the browser, output to PDF, printout via Adobe Acrobat Reader.
What I learned
A whole ton of stuff. Check out http://dogfeatherdesign.com/js-graphics-presentation-22-sept-2015/
What's next for TubeNotcher Paper Template Generator
I'd like to go back and do complete rectangular tubing design.
