Inspiration
College can be isolating, but in gaming it's normal to jump into a party with friends or total strangers. We brought that on-the-fly energy to campus so Temple students can build real social circles while keeping academics front and center.
What it does
TU Navigator lets Temple undergrads create and join live study and social sessions pinned to a campus map, so students looking for a social circle can find one that also helps them academically.
How we built it
Each of us built our own version of the core idea, then we merged the strongest features from all three into one app using
Challenges we ran into
Merging three different builds meant cutting features each of us had worked hard on, and agreeing on the final cut was tough.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We turned three separate visions into one working app that can have a real, positive impact on Temple's student body.
What we learned
Set shared checkpoints early. Agreeing on scope up front would have kept us from overbuilding features we later had to cut.
What's next for TU Navigator
Stronger protection against stalking and misuse: we plan to add voice-chat study sessions and require students to build karma through three remote sessions before they can join in-person ones.
