Inspiration
TruthShield was born from a place of deep personal pain and a promise to protect. I witnessed a close friend become a victim of a horrific digital crime where her images were manipulated using AI into fake, explicit content for blackmail. I saw the light leave her eyes as she spiraled into a darkness so deep she attempted to take her own life. In that moment of helplessness, feeling her pain in real life, I realized that technology was being weaponized against the innocent. I made a vow then and there: I would use my skills as a developer to build a shield. TruthShield is my response to that darkness—a tool created so that no one else has to feel that level of fear and despair.
What it does
TruthShield uses AI to detect fake calls, deepfake or manipulated images, and malware hidden inside files like PDFs and images. It alerts users early so they can avoid scams before any harm happens, without needing technical knowledge.
How I Built the Project
TruthShield is designed as an AI-powered security layer that analyzes calls, images, and files to identify potential scams and AI-generated manipulation. The focus is on early detection and clear warnings, so users can make safe decisions without technical knowledge.
Ethical AI usage, transparency, and user privacy were key considerations throughout the design process.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was balancing accuracy with simplicity — building a system powerful enough to detect threats while keeping it easy to use. Another challenge was designing protection that does not compromise user privacy.
