TruthLens was inspired by the experience of growing up in India, where false information sometimes sparks conflicts and even communal violence. Witnessing people fight over misinformation motivated the creation of a platform that helps save society from misleading and harmful falsehoods by promoting real facts and transparency.

What inspired us

Living in a place where misinformation could escalate into serious social unrest made it clear that access to truthful information is vital for peace and harmony. This project aims to be a tool that users can trust to uncover the truth and prevent chaos caused by fake news.

What we learned

The complexities of detecting misinformation across different media formats

AI and machine learning techniques for real-time fact verification

Importance of user trust and transparency in information platforms

Using GitHub for version control and deploying static websites with GitHub Pages

How we built it

We developed TruthLens using:

Frontend: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for a clean user interface

Backend/AI: Machine learning models to analyze and verify information quickly

Deployment: Hosted the website on GitHub Pages for easy access and continuous updates

Challenges we faced

Building accurate AI models to detect fake news without excessive false positives

Efficiently processing multimodal content such as text, images, and videos

Balancing speed and accuracy for real-time fact checking
