Inspiration
The inspiration for a fake news & misinformation detection website usually comes from a mix of real-world problems and technological opportunity
What it does
A fake news & misinformation detection website helps users check whether a piece of information is trustworthy or not.
How we built it
Designed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Created a simple interface where users can: Paste news text Enter a URL Added a results dashboard with: Classification label (Real/Fake/Misleading) Confidence score Explanation section
Challenges we ran into
During development, one major issue was that the backend initially wasn’t responding correctly to frontend requests.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we are most proud of is that we didn’t just study the problem of misinformation,we built a working solution that can actually help people verify information in real time.
What we learned
We learned how frontend and backend actually interact ,handling requests, APIs, and data flow instead of just theory.
What's next for Truthlens
Expand beyond English to detect misinformation in regional languages (Hindi, Bengali, etc.), which is crucial in India.
