Inspiration: We were curious as to what kinds of projects we can create using blockchain technology. We came to a basic understanding of how blockchain actually works and provides and we brainstormed what do people need to be secured yet needs to be tracked, and we came with polling for use elections

What it does: TrustBallot allows user to vote for a running election on the block chain safely and securely.

How we built it: We currently don't have a back-end database but for the front-end we used Next.js. We used Truffle to mimic the process and fetched the created contracts from the blockchain.

Challenges we ran into: The biggest challenge is definitely trying mimic the blockchain using Truffle being our first working a blockchain related project. Getting the information we need to use to provide users about previous, current, and future elections is still a process we are working towards

Accomplishments that we're proud of: Creating our first contract (even if it was through an EVM) was the biggest accomplishment. Working on a project that can possibly impact the whole country brings our excitement that much more higher.

What we learned: Learning about the blockchain was definitely the biggest take away. Being able to use new technology and just expand out scope using contracts and blocks.

What's next for TrustBallot: Envisioning a future with the use of TrustBallot. There are many parts starting from using actual data regarding elections in the US and drastically improving security features beyond the blockchain contracts. We will start with getting the features fully flushed out with California ballots and reach out to see where we stand with security issues regarding casting votes online with the use of blockchains.
