Inspiration

Truly was born from a deeply personal place — the quiet ache of feeling overwhelmed, emotionally burnt out, and longing for a gentle space to land. I wanted to create something I wish I had: a soft, sacred, digital sanctuary that understands your emotions, adapts to your energy, and holds your inner world with kindness. I was inspired by the emotional intelligence Gen Z carries, by my own healing journey, and by the belief that tech can be magical, not just functional.

What it does

Truly is a soft, magical, and emotionally intelligent web app that acts as your digital sanctuary. It’s built to support Gen Z and emotionally sensitive users who crave calm, emotional clarity, and connection — without the overwhelm.

Once you enter Truly, you go through a poetic onboarding flow where your personal badge is created — a symbolic artifact of your inner self.

From there, users can explore four sacred spaces: 1. 🌌 Truly Space – A mystical zone of emotional tools: • Floating Lantern Ritual: Make a wish and watch your lantern float into the sky. • Lullaby Mode: Drift into peace with an AI-generated voice lullaby (powered by ElevenLabs). • Secret Garden: Plant glowing emotional flowers when you share your story. • AI Mind Map: Visualize and explore your thoughts in a guided, non-linear way. • Sacred Journal: Reflect, write, and process through guided emotional journaling. 2. 🧠 Truly Twin – Your AI-powered emotional companion. • Offers safe, supportive, chat-based emotional reflection. • Learns from your mood and helps you reframe, reflect, and grow. 3. 🌸 Truly Circles – Gentle community bubbles. • Users can join from 5 soft, themed emotional communities. • Interact anonymously with others via poetic notes and story watering. 4. 🌿 Truly Origin – The soul of the app. • A space where users revisit their journey, values, personal evolution, and the story behind Truly itself. It blends AI, design, and emotion to create an experience — not just a product. Truly helps users feel seen, heal quietly, and reconnect to their future selves, one gentle ritual at a time. 🌙

How we built it

We built Truly entirely on Bolt.new, starting from scratch — with a vision to craft an emotionally intelligent, magical self-care companion. Despite having no formal coding experience, everything was designed using AI-powered prompts and no-code tools, resulting in a full-fledged web app with only ~10M tokens.

⚙️ Platforms & Tools Used: • Bolt.new — Core no-code builder, used to design and animate every screen with custom AI prompts, including UI elements, rituals, mascots, and interactions. • Supabase — For secure backend auth and user database functionality, enabling personalized logins and saved user progress across rituals. • Netlify — Used to deploy and host the live version of the app with custom domain support. • GitHub — Connected to our Bolt project to version-control the codebase and support future iterations. • ElevenLabs — Generated calming AI voices used in Lullaby Mode, creating a deeply soothing emotional experience. • Image AI (via DALL·E/Bolt) — Created floating lanterns, secret gardens, magical mascots, and flowers used in the Rituals & Realms experience.

Challenges we ran into

Crafting a soulful experience like Truly within a no-code environment required a delicate balance — emotionally, creatively, and technically.

✨ Designing Emotion Through Simplicity Translating deep emotional rituals into a lightweight web app meant we had to express magic using minimal components — ensuring every animation, mascot, and interaction felt meaningful without overwhelming the experience.

✨ Token Efficiency & Smart Prompting Working within a limited token budget pushed us to write ultra-optimized prompts, turning every single line of instruction into something both beautiful and functional.

✨ Personalization Without Complexity We wanted each user’s journey to feel deeply personal — from floating lantern wishes to AI therapy conversations — while maintaining ease of access. This led us to rethink how we structure login flows, rituals, and community features, all while keeping the UI intuitive.

✨ Building as a Solo Creator Bringing Truly to life solo meant every detail — from art direction to backend decisions — came from one pair of hands and one big heart. It was as much a technical challenge as it was a journey of emotional endurance and vision.

🌍 A Truly Mobile App — We plan to launch Truly on mobile using Expo, making emotional wellness portable, personal, and always accessible.

💎 Premium Rituals & Experiences — We’re preparing to roll out subscription-based features like custom rituals, deeper emotional analytics, and exclusive spaces for users seeking a more intimate connection with themselves.

🧠 Smarter AI Companion — Truly Twin will evolve into a more adaptive emotional therapist using memory retention, voice interactions (via ElevenLabs), and subtle mood tracking.

🌱 Evolving Secret Garden — The Secret Garden will become more interactive—with evolving environments, seasonal animations, and rare blooms unlocked by consistent emotional engagement.

💌 Community Growth — We’ll continue building soft, anonymous community features—letting users gently uplift each other through poetic exchanges and non-intrusive gestures.

🌐 Public Launch + Marketing Push — After the Hackathon, we plan a full public launch with a refined brand story, partnerships with mental wellness advocates, and storytelling-led marketing campaigns.

🛡️ Data Privacy & Security Enhancements — As we grow, protecting emotional data and maintaining trust remains our top priority. We’ll be exploring blockchain and ethical AI transparency features.

To experience TRULY without needing to sign up, judges can simply click the “Judge Guest” button on the welcome/login popup. This will take you through the full onboarding flow—including badge generation and feature discovery—without requiring any credentials. You’ll have access to all major features, just like a real user.
