About TruEvent
Inspiration
The idea for TruEvent came from a desire to make events more than just gatherings. We were inspired by how people connect through identity — how a simple profile picture can spark curiosity, conversation, and community. In a world where events are often forgotten the moment they end, we envisioned a platform where every event could leave a lasting, visible impact — not through expensive marketing, but through the people who attend.
We wanted to build something that would empower everyday hosts, churches, schools, creators, and communities to amplify their events using what people already love to share: personalized, beautiful DPs.
What it does
TruEvent is a platform that helps organizers create and host events that go viral — not with ads, but with identity. Attendees can register for an event, upload their photo, and instantly generate a personalized display picture (DP) using a custom event-branded template.
Organizers can:
- Create events
- Upload and design DP flyers with dynamic placeholders
- Add and verify speakers/guests
- Track DP generation and sharing analytics
Attendees can:
- Register (with or without login)
- Upload photos and generate branded DPs
- Download or share directly to WhatsApp, Instagram, X, and more
Speakers can:
- Confirm or reject speaking invitations via email
- Edit and approve their public profiles
Admins can:
- Oversee the entire ecosystem, moderate content, and manage user roles
How we built it
TruEvent was built using a modular, role-based design with a clean and scalable architecture:
- We structured flows for four main user types: Admin, Organizer, Attendee, and Speaker
- We designed a custom DP engine that allows organizers to upload flyers and define image and text placeholders for attendees
- A speaker verification workflow was integrated through automated email invites and decision tracking
- The platform supports image generation, social sharing, event analytics, and public event visibility
- The UI is responsive, animation-rich, and mobile-friendly — inspired by platforms like Eventbrite
Challenges we ran into
- Designing a placeholder system that allowed organizers to freely define shapes, fonts, and positions on uploaded flyers — without overwhelming them
- Ensuring image generation was fast, clean, and supported different devices and aspect ratios
- Structuring user flows that felt seamless whether the attendee logged in or just provided their name/email
- Building speaker verification that felt secure yet lightweight
- Balancing the need for admin control with the freedom of grassroots event creators
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a full registration-to-DP-generation experience that works beautifully on both desktop and mobile
- Enabled organizers to create shareable events in minutes, even with zero design skills
- Created a speaker invitation and verification flow that feels professional and intuitive
- Made it possible for attendees to generate and share identity-based DPs without needing to install anything or download design tools
- Developed a scalable admin dashboard that supports real-time moderation and analytics
What we learned
- Identity drives engagement. Attendees are more likely to share an event when they feel personally connected to it.
- Event organizers want simple tools with powerful results. The ability to design once and generate thousands of custom DPs was a game-changer.
- Clear UX wins. Every step — from uploading a photo to sharing a finished DP — had to be incredibly intuitive.
- Community is built through shared visuals. When people see their friends using TruEvent DPs, it creates a ripple effect that draws more attention and participation.
What's next for TruEvent
- Animated DP support — giving organizers the ability to create motion-based templates and share GIFs or short MP4 intros
- Multi-template events — letting users choose from more than one DP style per event
- Speaker wall upgrades — more detailed public speaker profiles and talk previews
- In-app video generation using attendee DPs (via Tavus or native tools)
- DP Gallery Pages — public walls of DPs created per event
- On-site check-in and badge printing using registered DP profiles
- Marketplace for designers — where creatives can upload and sell branded DP templates to organizers
TruEvent is just getting started — and we’re building toward a future where every event can be remembered, celebrated, and shared far beyond the venue walls.
