Inspiration

The idea for TrueTest came from a simple problem we noticed in healthcare. The same medical test can have different prices at different hospitals, but patients don't always have an easy way to compare them.

Finding the right hospital, checking prices, and booking appointments can take more time and effort than necessary. We wanted to build something that would make these everyday healthcare decisions easier.

That's how TrueTest started — with the idea of bringing useful healthcare services together in one place.

What it does

TrueTest is a healthcare platform designed to help people find and manage healthcare services more easily.

Users can compare medical test prices across hospitals and clinics, find hospitals, and book appointments without having to search through multiple websites.

We also included features such as insurance assistance, a symptom checker, wearable health tracking, health reminders, and a digital health locker.

Our aim is to help users understand their options and make informed decisions about their healthcare.

How we built it

We built the frontend using React, TypeScript, and Vite, focusing on making the website interactive, responsive, and easy to navigate.

For backend development, we worked with Python and Flask to handle APIs and medical test information. We also used Supabase for user authentication and GitHub to manage our code and collaborate as a team.

Throughout development, we focused on keeping the design simple while making the different features work together.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was combining several healthcare services into one platform without making it confusing for users.

We faced issues with API integration, organizing hospital and test information, appointment workflows, and maintaining a consistent interface.

There were times when a feature worked individually but needed further changes to work smoothly with the rest of the application.

We worked through these problems by testing, debugging, and improving the application step by step.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to turn our initial idea into an interactive healthcare platform.

What started as a simple medical test price comparison tool gradually grew into a platform that also supports hospital discovery, appointment booking, insurance assistance, and personal health management.

We're especially happy with the price comparison feature because it addresses the main problem that inspired us to start this project.

What we learned

Working on TrueTest gave us practical experience in frontend development, backend APIs, authentication, debugging, and teamwork.

We also learned how important it is to understand the user's perspective while developing healthcare applications.

One of our biggest takeaways was that a useful healthcare application doesn't have to be complicated. It needs to solve a real problem in a way people can understand.

What's next for TrueTest

We want to keep improving TrueTest by connecting it with real hospitals and diagnostic centers, introducing regularly updated medical test prices, and supporting real-time appointment availability.

We also hope to improve the insurance assistance and wearable tracking features and make the platform more personalized.

Our long-term goal is to make TrueTest a reliable place where people can compare healthcare options, find services, and manage their health with less confusion and more confidence.

TrueTest — Making healthcare choices simpler, one test at a time.
