Inspiration Eldercare technology often strips away an older adult's dignity through relentless surveillance—cameras, tracking wearables, and false alarms. We built TrueDose to prove that family peace of mind does not require non-stop monitoring: the elder stays in complete sovereign control. What it does TrueDose is a consent-first smart check-in orchestrator: Privacy by Default: When Grandma takes her daily pills and tells Alexa, the timestamp is logged. Because the routine was met, zero alerts are sent to family. Sovereign Consent Gate: When family requests status updates, data is never shared unless Grandma explicitly approves via voice or tap. Two-Step Confirm & 60s Undo: Actuator commands (e.g., locking the gate) require double confirmation and provide a live 60-second undo window callable by voice ("Alexa, undo that"). Tamper-Evident SHA-256 Audit Chain: Every grant, check, and trigger is cryptographically linked so unauthorized alterations are immediately detected. How we built it Self-Hosted MCP Server: Node.js/TypeScript backend implementing the Model Context Protocol (JSON-RPC 2.0) with custom tools (check_pill_status, check_gate_status, request_elder_consent, lock_gate, undo_last_action). 7-Node Deterministic Pipeline: Modeled live execution flow: Isometric Simulation Stage: React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS rendering a 3D SVG room with reactive Alexa orbs and sensor states. Cryptographic Hashing: Every event chains to its predecessor: Challenges we ran into Default-Deny UX: Ensuring family members receive helpful reassurance without leaking private elder habits. We solved this with Privacy Receipts. Atomic Undo Windows: Coordinating an active 60-second voice rollback across asynchronous MCP tool calls and stateful UI animations. Accomplishments that we're proud of True Default-Deny Security: Enforcing . "Try To Break It" Suite: Built-in penetration drills proving tamper resistance and rate limits directly against the live MCP server. Zero-Dependency Audio: Crisp synthesized voice feedback and Alexa chimes generated via the Web Audio API. What we learned Seniors don't reject smart home technology; they reject systems that treat them like patients. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a superior paradigm for binding AI agents to strict, verifiable safety contracts. What's next for TrueDose Integrating real Matter/Thread smart-home deadbolts and sensor pillboxes. Running offline, local speech models (Whisper/small LLMs) completely on-device for zero cloud dependency.
