Inspiration
Every day, thousands of students and fresh graduates fall victim to predatory job scams, losing their hard-earned money to fake registration fees and fraudulent offers. Traditional job boards rarely verify employers thoroughly. We were inspired to build TrueCompany Shield to create a bulletproof security layer that automatically filters out fake entities, giving job seekers the transparent safety net they deserve.
What it does
TrueCompany Shield is an AI-powered SaaS and cybersecurity solution designed for safe and verified hiring. The ecosystem consists of:
- Government Database Sync: Real-time verification of company credentials through official GSTIN and CIN government APIs.
- AI Fraud Detection (NLP Engine): An advanced message scanner that flags scam patterns, upfront payment requests, and unrealistic salary traps.
- Real-Time Protection: A smart Chrome Extension that overlays live trust ratings (0-100% Trust Score) directly on top of job boards like LinkedIn.
- Unified Dashboards: Tailored interfaces for students to browse safely, employers to track clean analytics, and cyber cells to monitor active fraud metrics.
How we built it
The platform is engineered using modern, robust web and AI technologies:
- Frontend: Built with Next.js, React, and styled elegantly using Tailwind CSS for a premium dashboard experience.
- Backend & Automation: Powered by Node.js with automated cron jobs configured for weekly government database synchronization.
- AI & Security Architecture: Integrated OpenAI models and custom prompt engineering for strict NLP-based scam message pattern analysis.
Challenges we ran into
Building a unified fraud prevention engine came with tough hurdles:
- API Integration Complexity: Syncing diverse official data systems while managing strict API limits and response speeds.
- Handling Sophisticated Scams: Refining our NLP prompt engineering layer so it catches creative text variations used by modern scammers without throwing false positives.
- Real-time Performance: Ensuring the Chrome extension injects trust scores dynamically on active job portals without lagging the browser.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully designed a beautiful, highly interactive dashboard that visualizes technical security ratings clearly.
- Built a functional end-to-end scanner that turns raw employer messages into automated AI actions in real time.
- Created a practical solution that shifts the defense mechanism from passive reporting to active, pre-emptive defense.
What we learned
- Effective cybersecurity solutions must be deeply embedded into users' active workflows (like a browser extension) to provide immediate value.
- Merging government verified data registries with generative AI models provides a exponentially higher tier of protection than either method alone.
What's next for TrueCompany Shield
- Cross-Platform Extension: Expanding our browser security layer to completely cover platforms like WhatsApp Web and Telegram Desktop.
- Predictive Risk Modeling: Integrating historical data analysis to flag suspicious entities before they even publish their first scam post.
- Deep Fraud Telemetry: Collaborating closer with centralized cyber-crime response cells for instant automated data sharing and reporting workflows.
