Inspiration
Every day, thousands of students and job seekers fall victim to sophisticated recruitment scams, losing their hard-earned money and trust to fake employers. Most job portals only verify standard details, allowing fraudsters to post fake openings. We built TrueCompany Shield to create a safe hiring ecosystem by exposing fraudulent actors before users apply.
What it does
TrueCompany Shield is an AI-powered employer verification platform. Key workflows include:
- Government API Cross-Verification: Checks corporate registration data via live GSTIN and CIN tracking.
- AI NLP Scam Pattern Detector: Analyzes recruiter communications to flag illegal upfront registration fee requests or fake offer structures.
- Chrome Extension: Seamlessly overlays an AI trust score directly on major job boards, providing real-time safety badges (Safe/Avoid) to applicants.
- Cyber Cell Dashboard: Aggregates verified fraud data to support security monitoring and public transparency.
How we built it
The platform is built using a modern, scalable tech stack:
- Frontend: React.js combined with Tailwind CSS for a premium, clean dark-themed dashboard.
- Browser Integration: JavaScript-based Chrome Extension API for reading job page DOMs and applying trust overlays.
- Backend & AI Analytics: Node.js/Python server managing authentication, structured rule checks, and an advanced NLP model wrapper tasked with scanning user-submitted text for fraud indicators.
Challenges we faced
Handling real-time data sync with fluctuating external sources proved challenging. We resolved this by building an automated background workflow simulator that mimics corporate database responses. Ensuring seamless text manipulation across dynamically loading elements on external job boards also required multiple iterations to maintain lightweight performance.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully built a multi-layered ecosystem comprising a student hub, an enterprise validation system, and an operational browser extension within a tight development window. Proving that an automated tool can reliably catch payment-related fraud messages instantly was a huge milestone.
What we learned
We gained critical experience building cross-origin browser tools, optimizing prompt workflows for strict regulatory classification, and structuring complex dashboards to display explainable AI confidence scores clearly to everyday users.
What's next for TrueCompany Shield
We plan to integrate deep-learning facial analysis to verify remote recruiters over video, deploy automated webhook alerts straight to regional cyber crime units, and scale our database to natively cover global corporate registries.
