Inspiration
Many small law firms and freelance paralegals are aware of the power of AI — but they don’t know where to start. Some early adopters began experimenting with tools like ChatGPT, but the experience often involved a lot of friction: copying data into a separate window, getting AI output, and pasting it back into their actual workflow.
We saw an opportunity to save them time, reduce costs, and boost productivity by fully integrating AI into how they already work — without forcing them to adopt expensive or fragmented tools.
By embedding AI directly into legal workflows, Troup.ai does more than automate. It learns from each user’s behavior, adapts to their style, and helps them work smarter, improving with every case. Over time, our system becomes their invisible legal assistant — helping them win more cases, serve more clients, and compete with larger firms on a level playing field.
What it does
• Legal workflows are repetitive, making them perfect for AI.
• Solo lawyers prioritize simplicity, not complexity.
• Drafting, client intake, and research are high-friction tasks.
• Trust is built by giving users clarity, control, and quick results.
How we built it
• We built the platform from scratch using BOLT
• BOLT allowed us to rapidly develop a beautiful, intuitive, AI-integrated platform
• We use BOLT for front-end development and interface logic
• Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage
• OpenAI’s API to power document drafting, summaries, and insights
• Custom role-based logic to adapt the app for freelancers and firms
The result is an intuitive platform that guides users through tasks like client onboarding, AI-powered drafting, and matter management — all tailored to their practice type.
Challenges we ran into
• Making AI fit seamlessly into real legal workflows
• Designing an interface that works on mobile and desktop
• Supporting both solo paralegals and law firm teams
• Balancing automation with control over legal documents
Accomplishments that we're proud of
• An enterprise-grade SaaS platforms built using vibe coding tools like Bolt
• Truly AI-first, while for legal tools AI is an afterthought
• Developed 40+ functional components
• A massive scope for a project of this nature — in just 35 days
• A built-in large, ready-to-use template library
• Over 25 legal practice areas, including Family Law, Immigration, and more
What we learned
• Bolt helped us think beyond traditional development
• Bolt isn’t just a tool, but a collaborator in rapid ideation and prototyping
• Designing AI-first experiences requires shedding conventional patterns
• We had to embrace dynamic, adaptive workflows
• Legal professionals expect both power and simplicity
• The smallest UX friction can block adoption
What's next for Troup.ai
• Encrypting the entire platform end-to-end for airtight data security
• E-signature integration (e.g., _DocuSign_) to streamline execution workflows
• Full GDPR and SOC 2 compliance to meet international privacy and governance standards
Unlike lightweight single-page app, Troup.ai was built from the start as a full-fledged enterprise-grade platform designed to serve the global legal community — with security, safety, and privacy at its core.
We already have freelance paralegals and boutique law firms lined up to pilot Troup.ai, and the early interest has been incredibly encouraging.
The team behind Troup.ai are serial entrepreneurs and seasoned tech veterans with multiple successful startups and deep experience in building high-volume online transaction processing systems. We’re excited to bring that level of engineering rigor and product thinking to the legal tech space.
