About the Project Trodolo is a full-stack SaaS platform built to help creators and merchants sell digital products easily, even in markets where traditional payment gateways are limited. The platform combines digital storefronts, affiliate marketing, and real-time communication into one unified system, with a strong focus on flexibility and usability. Inspiration The inspiration behind Trodolo came from the challenges faced by many digital creators who cannot rely on standard payment gateways. We noticed a gap between powerful global platforms and the real needs of emerging markets. Our goal was to build a modern, accessible alternative that supports manual payment verification and community-driven interactions. What it Does Trodolo allows merchants to create customizable digital stores, upload and sell digital products, and manage orders through a manual payment verification system. Affiliates can promote products using referral links and earn commissions. The platform also includes real-time chat and communities to improve user engagement and trust. How We Built It We built Trodolo using modern web technologies. The frontend is developed with React 18, TypeScript, and Vite for performance and scalability. Tailwind CSS was used to design a dark-mode, neon-inspired interface. Firebase powers authentication, real-time database operations, and file storage, enabling fast development and real-time features. Challenges We Ran Into One of the main challenges was designing a secure and reliable manual payment verification flow while keeping the user experience simple. Managing real-time chat, order updates, and role-based access control within a single platform also required careful planning and testing. Accomplishments That We're Proud Of We successfully built a complete SaaS platform from scratch, including merchant dashboards, affiliate systems, real-time chat, and an admin console. Creating a scalable architecture that supports multiple user roles and real-time interactions is one of our biggest achievements. What We Learned Through building Trodolo, we learned how to design scalable SaaS architectures, manage real-time data efficiently, and balance flexibility with security. We also gained valuable experience in building products tailored for emerging markets. What's Next for Trodolo Next, we plan to integrate automated payment gateways, improve analytics for merchants and affiliates, add more store templates, and develop a mobile application to reach a wider audience.
