Trivia Remix (Remixable World)

Trivia Remix is an original, remixable party game world created from scratch inside Meta Horizon Worlds. It was inspired by a simple idea: trivia is universal. Whether it’s sports, music, movies, science, or personal inside jokes, everyone loves testing their knowledge while having fun with friends. I wanted to build something that wasn’t just a one-off experience, but a plug-and-play template that anyone could customize to make their own trivia game.

Inspiration

The project began with the goal of creating a social game that works with both small and large groups. I was inspired by classic trivia nights, game shows, and the energy of multiplayer party games. My vision was to capture that same excitement but in a remixable format where creators could add their own voice, personality, and topics.

What I Learned

Through this project, I deepened my understanding of remixable world design—building not just for myself, but for others who would edit, re-skin, and transform the world. I learned how to streamline question formats, simplify customization in the Worlds Desktop Editor, and create clear entry points for other creators.

How It Was Built

I built Trivia Remix from the ground up with scalability and ease-of-use in mind. Key design choices included: -- A plug-and-play trivia system that handles up to 22 players. -- A customizable stage with accent colors, skyboxes, and environment options. -- Simple question formatting so anyone can write new trivia questions and games. -- More than a dozen options in the Desktop Editor that let creators tweak colors, number of players, number of questions, and more—without needing to edit code.

Accomplishments & Challenges

Balancing flexibility with simplicity was a challenge—too much complexity would intimidate new users, while too little would limit creativity. Another challenge was designing for large groups while keeping the game accessible and fun for smaller sessions too.

How People Can Use It

Trivia Remix is more than just a game—it’s a creative toolkit. Anyone can clone the world and instantly create trivia games about their favorite subjects. Teachers could use it for educational quizzes, communities can use it for themed game nights, and creators can reimagine it with their own assets, environments, and rules.
